Art Life Residencies
The imagined landscapes in my paintings emerge through direct engagement with real places…
Residencies allow me to work immersively in landscapes shaped by memory, history and transformation. Responding to shifting light, weather and movement in nature, or in shattered buildings, is a meditation on memory and being present in time.
The Isle of Lewis, Scotland; Bergosa, Spain; an archaeological site in the Punjab, Pakistan; and abandoned cottages in Sanquhar, Scotland are places where I have become immersed in both recent and ancient histories.
