Michele Marcoux – Curriculum Vitae

Michele Marcoux visual artist in her Edinburgh studio

Michele Marcoux was Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Ohio in the USA, and lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. She completed her BA in Fine Art from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadephia and received her Master of Letters, Fine Art Practice (distinction) from Glasgow School of Art in 2017. She has lived in Scotland since 1990.

Residencies

  • 2021 – 22 Ecologies of Displacement, a 9 month International Residency between Pakistan and Scotland. A collaboration with Lahore-based artist Farrukh Addnan which included month long travel to Pakistan. EOD is a partnership between Koel Gallery, Karachi and Summerhall, Edinburgh. The residency was funded through a British Council and Creative Scotland ‘Connect and Collaborate’ Grant. 
  • 2021 Creating a Pandemic Imaginary, a month long residency at MERZ Gallery, Sanquhar Scotland, funded through Creative Scotland’s Open Fund grant.
  • 2019 Taking Time/Prendendo Tempo, The Museum of Loss and Renewal, Collemacchia, Italy, one of six international artists selected for this three week residency
  • 2016 Raiding the Past, Hospitalfield House, Arbroath, Scotland.  Residency between Glasgow School of Art & The Royal College of Art, Den Hague, Netherlands.
  • Dumfries House – residency in conjunction with Glasgow School of Art and The Royal Drawing School

Conferences and Workshops

  • April 2018The Latent Image Conference – Transimage 2018 – The three day long, fifth International Conference on Transdisciplinary Imaging at the Intersections of Art, Science and Culture is hosted by the Edinburgh Futures Institute, and took place in collaboration with Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh College of Art and the Centre for Design Informatics.
  • Mar 2018 – Practicing Deep Time, three day conference at Timespan, Helmsdale, Scotland
  • Nov 2016 – Scottish Informatics & Computer Science Alliance (SICSA) Playlab, Glasgow School of Art  A one day workshop looking at new forms of interactivity. 360 cameras, projection mapping and AR/VR. Took part in pop up exhibition at GSA.
