Ecologies of Displacement

“-Edinburgh-based artist, Michele Marcoux, grew up in the culturally diverse industrial city of Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Lahore-based artist, Farrukh Addnan, grew up in Tulamba, a Punjabi village situated on an archaeological site in Pakistan.

Reaching across vast and vivid boundaries, bound by the global currents of pandemic and climate catastrophe, both artists address the urgent theme of ‘Ecologies of Displacement’.

2021-22 Ecologies of Displacement was a 9 month international visual arts residency and collaboration between myself and Pakistani artist Farrukh Addnan hosted by Koel Gallery, in Karachi Pakistan, and Summerhall, in Edinburgh, Scotland, which received support through a British Council and Creative Scotland Connect and Collaborate grant. A digital collaboration between me and Farrukh, we also each developed individual bodies of work for exhibitions in Pakistan and Scotland.
