New Paintings

My practice explores the fragmentary nature of memory and perception. In these latest paintings ‘place’ is a locus of memory and dreaming. Completed since February this year, these paintings are dreams of life during pandemic.

Katydid, 2020
oil on board, 61cm x 61 cm (24in x 24in)

A dream of Ohio.

Fluttering at the windowpane, 2020
oil on board, 61cm x 61 cm (24in x 24in)

“He felt all at once like an ineffectual moth, fluttering at the windowpane of reality, dimly seeing it from outside.”

― Philip K. Dick, Ubik

Casser Maison, 2020
oil on board, 61cm x 61 cm (24in x 24in)

Casser Maison (breaking the house) is a French-Canadian end of life ritual to clear a house. Home shifts and becomes interchangeable, transferable.
